Is the end of peace process is closer? In fact the news articles appeared in this site today signals a change!

I think we are not diceived by the peace promise. I am hurry to know when we will be heard that there is the real peace. Good luck to Sri Lanka!

Tamils in Canada are significant funders of LTTE terrorism --- it is easy to be an extreme nationalist when you are not directly affected by the consequences of terrorist action. But, surely to God, those horrifying stories of child abductions and fascist mind-control of Sri Lanka's Tamils by LTTE thugs must seem totally foreign to those Tamils who enjoy Canada's democracy and freedom from fear. If pressure comes from its funders, there is yet a chance that the Tigers will actually listen to world opinion and not blow this chance for peace.

Any festivals for all comunities is against LTTE policy."LTTE memorial built in violation of MOU". LTTE continuously violates the MOU.

The present president of SL bravely pronounced during the time PA was in power that she would concede anything except a separate state to the LTTE. Why is she antagonistic to federalism now? Is it because federalism is mooted by UNF? Political animosity is curse to Sri Lanka. We Sri Lankans should work together to undo this curse.

We should give the equal rights to Tamils. I noticed no tamils in the office bearers list. We should change or nature will change us in a way that we generally do not like.

LTTE wants to renovate their war memorial remembering their killing of tamils of the ENDLF group. Tamils kill tamils and for that they build a memorial. What a shame.Is LTTE really interested in peace? Karuna: "LTTE is not willing to accept the GOSL administration and judicial system." "It is unacceptable to demand driver's license from our cadres." Everyone driving in GOSL controlled area has to have a valid licence. If you drive without licences in LTTE area it is ok. In all countries either you have a licence or you dont drive. If war breaks out, LTTE puts the-blame to SLA.

I am so dissapointed on the press releases issued by both My. Moragoda and the joint peace delegation. Mr. Moragada said "Now we'll have to see how such incidents can be avoided". Open your eyes, this is not the first time this happened since the peace process. The problem is not trying to avoid such incidents, but trying to STOP them, and ask them why we Sri Lankans should committ ourselves to a peace process when all they do is take bring in more arms, tax our inocent people by force and don't forget force inocent children as child soldiers.

The parliment will not be disoved before the Japanese donor meeting. LTTE has to change its policy and give in to GOSL, for a 2/3 of the parliment to be found for the final solution. People want peace but not on the conditions given by LTTE. They will prefer an involvement of foreign troops like India, than handover a part of SriLanka to the Eelam state. Armyservice should be compulsory for each youth above 18 or 20 years and serve for at least 2 years. So the army will be a mixed unit, compromising all etnic and religious groups. Exemptions from army service should be based solely religious conscience of practicing religionmembers.

Federalism does not mean to divide SriLanka into 2 federal parts but all provinces should become autonomous. Therefore the eastern province should be an entiety along with the northern or north-central province. A new naming could be given, according to the language spoken like in India or according to mayor cities like Switzerland, or regional names like Germany. The problems lies in the roots. LTTE cannot afford to have conflicting aims. They should have only one common aim to achieve, nurture unity among ALL ethnic compositions living in SriLanka and the feeling of one nation not only tamils, endeavoring to live in harmony.

SLMM wants the military to be replaced by police. Mr. Sampanthan had stated this earlier. The LTTE will take advantage of this change, insist that only tamil police functions in NE and will try to put its members to that force. The rest you can imagine..Deproscription of LTTE has brought more troubles than gains. The Jaffna District People's Forum (JDPF), Consortium of Vavuniya district Public Organizations, Consortium of the Trincomalee district non-governmental organizations, Consortium of Jaffna District Public Organizations, International Tamil Students Union, have become front organisations of LTTE actively involved in anti government manifestations.

Many srilankan intellectuels realize, that the way to peace with LTTE becomes more and more difficult. The longer the situation remaines like present, it is an advantage for both sides, so it does not solve the conflict. LTTE can infilter more and more in public life and take control of everything in NE. After that to go for the war option will be an advantage for the LTTE. So they will artificially keep the peace process on track, (especially before the donor meeting in Japan), without reaching any improvements or without obligation to change anything from their part. (Taxation, recruitment, disbanding, disarming).

This site here is to promote peace and inform about the peaceprocess. Therefore if a party attends peacetalks, but does not promote peace, it has to be said here. At the moment LTTE is not promoting peace but tries to get control in government areas. It is not promoting hatred, if facts about LTTE are mentioned here. Because LTTE has a much huger propaganda machine to spread its ideas of selfish peace, which does not allow any others to participate. Therefore I write my comments to open the eyes of sincere peace loving people. I add comments from newspapers, which show the LTTE's true face.

If we can play cricket exceeding world standards, we definiely have a hidden potential as Sri Lankans to do great things. Of course we can do this also equally well in present peace process but before that "GEORGE" must be declared out by the umpire

At this particular junture,we must stand and look back why some people are not supporting the Peace Process?We are very clear that this Peace Process should not be an UNP peace programme, this should make as a Peoples' Process.You have to do something very serious on this regards.

is it a fact that fedaralism ensures the sovreignity belongs to all the people and not just the elected?

if it is true that nearly 100% of the land in sri lanka belongs to the state, then what is this land the muslims are claiming ownership of in the east?

Ceasefire violations in Kuchaveli shows, how easy it is for LTTE to return to war. If the SLMM could not convince the SLN to release the 7 cadres, LTTE would have send 500 men to fight the SLN, which would be the End of the MOU. The government gave in, like it the past it always gave in to the LTTE, for not disrupting the peace process. But the LTTE is not willing to release 2 persons in its custody. Fortunately this happened just before the next peace talks in Japan, and the donor meeting. Many nations doubt now the sincerity of the LTTE.

I am worried about the safety of Mr Balasingham when he will be in Wanni talking to his boss (a War Criminal and convicted mass killer!). I think Mr B avoided the meeting so far. Remember Yoggi -a one time peace delegate- and Mahaththaya. Have they got memorials in Tamil Ealem?

I was pleased to see the president delivering an appreciable speech at the summit meeting for the non-aligned movement where she praised the success of the peace process so far. This is a sharp improvement compared to the level of speeches she delivered recently in Sri Lanka.

I think comments from persons such as George won't support peace. If the editor allows these comments, he/she must allow comments against GOSL too. Otherwise it is bias. Now, all the Tamils united under LTTE leadership. The two parties LTTE on behalf of Tamils and GOSL on behalf of Sinhalese are involve in this peace process. In the past both side GOSL and LTTE committed crime against civilians. Don't forget that this series of violence was started by the GOSL. Accepting the reality is the only way for a permanent peace. The peace will succeed not the military presence.

Why not asking 100 times more money for bails? You will never see that person.

Thamilchelvam: "Tamils living in the northeast have not benefited from the cease-fire and are unable to lead normal lives, thousands of displaced people are unable to return to their villages because their homes are occupied by the military." Has the LTTE done anything, that the SLA can move out of Jaffna? No, the opposite. By increasing their fighting force, by arms-smuggling the army has even to be more vigilant and fortify its present positions. War is closer than peace and LTTE is prepared for that. People in Jaffna have nothing to say about, it they only suffer either way. Where is LTTE's peace-commitment?

SLMM:"We are annoyed by the way the LTTE has handled the situation and they have undermined the agreement," 7amed Tiger cadres were released following the intervention of the SLMM on grounds that the LTTE should release the soldier and the policeman taken into their custody. But they dont care about anybody, nor GOSL or SLMM. Hopefully the new SLMM chief will be harder on LTTE and make their failures of cooperation more public.
