Media should involved the peace. BUt that is not happening now in SRi Lanka. ESpecially the private medias should get in to the peace related matters. Firstly they should stop supporting one side or their own (language) communities. Then only they can see the real media power.

| I as adult citizen in this country belive that a peacefull settlement is required without deviding the country. We srongly require this not for us, but for our children & the generations ahead. A third party intervention is required to sort a permanant solution.

It is not enough that only the Politicians discuss the peace process. That is the reason why the peace talks stall mainly when the discussions are focused on power sharing. I suggest that the discussions should take place at several levels like, women, civil society, Religious, the accedemics, the students, etc. When these groups too are involved in the peace discussions the power sharing becomes easier as the levels mentioned are not ethnically separated. Politicians are elected by the members of these bodies. Let them also have a voice in a forum for peace discussions. |

The leaders of SL should clearly comprehend that " You cannot talk of a kind of democracy unless those who are affected by decisions make those decisions." . Therefore, democracy cannot be practiced in SL without greater decentralisation to the NE, enabling the people to make decisions. Any leader who does not practice this basic principle is undemocratic and cannot bring PEACE to SL

Great , that you have a seperate web for peace proses, specially offering/inviting public to express their ideas through" your views".my very simple suggession is instead of spending this much money on peace prosses activities spend less than half of the money to encorage sinhala/thamil weddings- for such marraige couples a) give free (or low price) houses b)give them jobs c) give them more facilities, do this for 3 years while piece talk is in process, i believe at the end of 3 years no need peace talks-cos' people are fedup with this war(-I am an engineer working in oman)

Recent events during and after the funeral of a Budhist monk shows how the minorities including non-Budhist Sinhalese been treated by the majority. Lord Budha taught and attained detachment from evrything. During His time also there were injustices in the world and dispite that He taught and took detachment as a way of life for peace. But most of today's Budhist Monks in Sri Lanka are attached to race, religion and power which is just opposite to Lord Budha's teaching. If the real Budhism exists in Sri Lanka it will be country of paradise for peace loving people.
