DISCUSSION BETWEEN THE GOSL AND THE LTTE

A meeting was held in the Divisional Secretariat Vavunathivu today, the Tuesday 15th June at 1100 hrs under the chairmanship of Mr. Roar Holm, the Acting Head of the Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission, Batticaloa.

The delegation from GOSL consisted of GOC Brigadier Vajira Wijeyagoonewardena, Sri Lanka Army 23 Division, Mr. Mahes Samaradiwakara, SSP Batticaloa District, Mr. Upul Seneviratne SP STF, Mr. Keeragala - ASP,Mr. Jeyawardena, Inspector of Police and representatives .

The delegation from LTTE consisted of Mr. Ramanan Commander, Mr. Howsalyan, Head of Political Wing, Batticaloa and Ampara District, Mr. Janarthan Commander Amparai, Mr. Kuilinpan Political wing Amparai, Mr. Senadhirajah Head Political wing, Batticaloa Town, and Mr. F. Manoj Secretary .

SLMM delegation consisted of Acting Head of SLMM, Batticaloa District Mr. Roar Holm, Mr. Timo Telen - Monitor, Mr. Raimo Rastas Deputy Head of SLMM, Amparai, and representatives.

The parties focused on reviewing the decisions arrived at the last meeting held on 2nd June 2004 concerning its implementation. And it was also agreed by both parties to consolidate the co-operation between them in order to avoid any violation of the Cease Fire Agreement.

The Parties agreed to continue to uphold and respect the Cease Fire Agreement entered into between the Government of Sri Lanka and the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam on the 22nd of February 2002.
